A game of ball ends in conflict between Jason and Mark. Children
can choose between four different story lines to deal with the
conflict: taking the ball away, walking away, telling an adult,
and peer mediation. Counselor narration is provided on such
issues as name calling, teasing, fighting, choices/consequences,
communication, mediation, I-Messages, creative alternative
solutions, and the power of choice. Interactive exercises include
puzzle completion, relaxation exercises, feelings awareness,
definitions and sentence completion,building conflict
resolution cycle and decision making. Participants are given the
opportunity to execute a contract with themselves at the
completion of the program. Young people will relate to this
attractively illustrated real world problem.
GIVE AND TAKE PROGRAM FEATURES:
Give and Take will automatically create a student record for
every user. It is stored on the hard drive and bookmarks the
students place in the program. If a student does not
complete the program, they can Quit and then resume their place
at a later time. To properly keep a student record, always quit
the program by using the QUIT button. They must enter exactly
the same name and must be on the same computer when resuming.
If the program asks if they are "new to the program" when resuming,
then it is not recognizing their name. Selecting "No" will allow them
to retype their name.

*** IV. Fun to Share
To use this program, open the "Fun to Share" folder and double-click on

Fun to Share is a simplified presentation of Give and Take, as is
more appropriate for younger children. Jason and Mark suffer the
consequences of fighting at school. After being sent home, Jason
considers what he could have done differently including refusing to
fight, asking an adult for help, and sharing. Fun to Share
demonstrates the undesirable consequences of escalating conflict
through shouting, name calling, threats and violent behavior.
Counselor narration is available on important issues and
alternative nonviolent win-win solutions emphasize sharing,
interactive exercises include solving puzzle, feelings awareness,
relaxation, connecting dots and coloring. Appropriate for an
individual, small group and classroom presentation.
